The exact allocation of duties between the two would be a matter for consideration. The Senior District Officer and his staff might then be abolished.

In the opinion of the Acting Commissioner the Police might then be reduced to a strength of 2 Sergearb 2 Corporals and 25 Constables and the services of three detectives might be dispensed with. Four sub-warders and other minor officials could also be abolished and other

economies could be effected.

The whole extent of these savings may be set

out as follows, taking the salaries, etc., on the basis of the Estimates for 1921-1922;-
